Tears in Heaven
“You should keep writing and keep updating your blog, no matter what” – that’s what I was saying to my clients. Before my life was turned upside down. I know, its not only me but when it happens to you. You feel stuck. It was not a writer’s block but mentally I was blocked.
I received a phone call on Christmas Day from my sister, saying that my father was not feeling well and he wanted to go to the hospital. I talked to her probably 10 times that day. Don’t get me wrong, you might have think; why you didn’t go to your dad. They live in overseas, so it means at least 12 hours of flight. It was not an option in that moment. Another phone call took me back, but this time they took him into intensive care. I was with him and my family a whole month; he was in intensive care for 20 days. He wanted to go home every day. He kept asking us what time it was and when we will bring him home. So we did. We brought him back home January 25th. He was at home for three days. It was Friday morning, January 28th. I didn’t sleep whole night. So my sister told me to sleep at least for an hour around 6 am. I did. I don’t know how but I did. She woke me up saying that our father is leaving. He was hardly breathing. After a minute or two he gave his last breathe. I love him so much. It is my first big loss. I didn’t know exactly what to do. But I knew that I should be strong for mom and for my sister; who is younger than me.
We start calling family and friends, but I mainly updated my Facebook and Twitter accounts. So in today’s day and age that is the way the news travels. People start commenting and all of a sudden we found ourselves surrounded with love and friends. They all either stopped by, called or comment through Facebook and Twitter. That was incredible support. Sometimes you only think those are the sites you need to update, but in reality they are the greatest tools, which connects you to the world of friends.
